Fazl alleges rulers have sold out Kashmir
WANA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Sunday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had failed on all fronts and set a new record of corruption in the country.
Speaking at Amn Fuzalaa Conference (Ulema Peace Conference) in Makeen near here, he said that the rulers at the time of the merger of erstwhile Fata had promised of spending billions of rupees in tribal areas but all those pledges now proved to be a drama.
"Now there is neither a new law nor the old one and the dwellers of tribal districts are confused about the new system," Fazl said. He believed that the merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was done to appease the US.
The JUI chief said that his party had opposed the merger of Fata tooth and nail and still had the same stance about it. The rulers, he said, made Gilgit-Baltistan a province, which had only 1.5 million population while tribal areas having a population of 30 million were not given that right.
Coming down hard on Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Maulana accused him of having sold out Kashmir, which was evident from his recent speeches in Azad Jammu and Kashmir electioneering.
He said the ‘fake’ prime minister, he said, had announced to hold a referendum in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that such remarks were damaging for the Kashmir cause. “We reject any stance that is not rooted in the UN SC resolutions and the country’s historical position,” he said, adding that the premier had betrayed the Kashmir cause. The Sports Stadium was full to the capacity of people and charged participants chanted slogans ‘go Niazi go, go Imran go’.
