Youth shot dead over old enmity

LAHORE : A young man was gunned down in the Mughalpura police jurisdiction on Saturday.

Victim Abdullah was shot dead by his opponents over an old enmity. The victim was released from jail before Eid. Police removed the body to the morgue.

Two persons wounded: Two persons were shot at and injured in the Qila Gujjar Singh police area on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Irfan, had opened fire and wounded Ali and Usman over a minor issue. The accused fled from the scene. The victims were removed to hospital.

Retired officer found dead in house: A retired officer was found dead in his house in the North Cantt area on Saturday.

Circumstantial evidences implied that Maj (retd) Imtiaz committed suicide by shooting himself in his temple over some issue. His family termed the incident a suicide and refused to conduct the postmortem on the body.

Woman attempts suicide: A woman attempted to end her life by taking poisonous pills in the Baghbanpura area on Saturday.

The woman (A) was admitted to hospital. It was reported that she took poisonous pills after being depressed over unknown domestic issues.

Man held for firing into air: South Cantt police arrested a man on charge of firing into the air at a wedding function.

The accused, Shoaib, had fired shots in the air during a wedding ceremony. Police also recovered a weapon from his possession.

Four held for gambling: Haier police arrested four gamblers and recovered gambling tools and stake money from their possession.

The accused, identified as Imran, Kashif, Imran Ahmed and Saeed, were arrested on while gambling.

10,811 victims rescued during Eid days: Rescue 1122 rescued 10,811 emergency victims in 11259 emergencies in all districts of Punjab during Eid holidays from 20 to 22nd July 2021.

The data revealed that Rescue Service responded to 3898 road traffic crashes in which 32 precious lives were lost in these holidays. The highest number of road traffic crashes 1532 were managed by Rescue Service on the second day of Eid.

During online meeting with District Emergency Officers (DEOs) DG PESD reviewed emergency data and discussed major emergencies in detail. The Emergency Ambulance, Rescue and Fire Services responded to 3898 emergencies of road traffic crashes, 5307 medical emergencies, 293 crime incidents, 179 fire incidents, 31 drowning, 372 delivery cases and 1179 other emergencies such as fall from a height, electric shock, burn cases and occupational injuries.
