LAHORE: The ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been shifted to Sri Lanka from the United Arab Emirates. All three ODIs will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota.
The series begins on September 1 and ends on September 5.
THe series won’t take place in the UAE due to the resumption of IPL 2021, which will take place in the Gulf nation. In May, the BCCI was forced to suspend the IPL midway because of the rising Covid-19 cases in the second wave of the pandemic in India.
This will be the first time the two Asian sides will play a bilateral series, though both have played four times in multi-team tournaments with Pakistan emerging victorious in all matches. The series is part of the ICC Super League where Pakistan are currently fifth and Afghanistan eighth.
