‘Sugar retail price fixed at Rs88 per kg in Punjab’
LALAMUSA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mehtab Waseem Azhar Monday said the retail price of sugar in the district had been fixed at Rs 88 per kg.
Addressing a meeting of sugar dealers, the DC said sugar traders would be obliged to take sugar from designated sugar and sell it in the market at fixed price; however, these prices will not apply to available stock.
He said the Punjab government had fixed the price of sugar per kg in consultation with stakeholders. Sugar Mills will sell sugar to dealers at Rs 83.24 per kg including all expenses and profits, while dealers will sell sugar at retail at Rs 88 per kg including purchase and other expenses from sugar mills.
He said dealers in district Gujrat have 3,000 sacks of sugar and they would be allowed to sell these stocks at their own cost. He informed that the district administration has informed the Punjab government that 6,000 metric tonnes of sugar is used in district Gujrat every month.
