Pharmacies and medical stores’ owners on Tuesday announced a countrywide strike and closure of their businesses on July 15 against imposition of “an advance tax” on retailers and distributors.
“We have decided to keep all pharmacies and medical stores closed on Thursday throughout the country against the imposition of an advance tax, whose mechanism is very strange and cumbersome for us,” Salahuddin Shaikh, chairman of the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association, told The News.
