PM appealed for taking notice of making secretariat at IUB
LAHORE: Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the efforts for making South Punjab Secretariat at the Abbasia Campus of the IUB.
In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Punjab Governor/Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Punjab Minister of Higher Education Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, IUB-ASA General Secretary Dr Syed Safdar Hussain observed that the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf government had come to power on the slogan of making universities in government buildings.
“However, the attempt to make South Punjab Secretariat at the Abbasia Campus of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur would be the exact opposite by giving university buildings to the bureaucracy.”
“Some local political elements are misguiding the PTI top leadership into a blunder which will result in severe public backlash and grant the opposition with a free pass to malign the PTI government as anti-higher education,” the letter reads.
