Pre-VII students to be promoted without exams
Islamabad : The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which regulates Islamabad's government schools and colleges, on Tuesday declared that annual examinations won't be held for classes from Prep to VII and their students would be promoted without sitting exams.
It, however, said the students' four formative/classroom assessments per subject would be held in records.
Each of those assessments, which carry 100 per cent marks, will comprise 25 per cent marks, according to a notification titled Promotion Policy for Class I to VIII for Academic Session, 2020-21.
According to the promotion policy announced for Class VIII, the in house examinations shall be conducted by respective head of institution as per centralised date sheet.
The minimum pass percentage achieved in each subject will be 35 per cent for the current academic year only.
"The percentage marks of each subject will be entered in institutional examination records and no students shall be retained in previous class whatsoever the result may be.
Students obtained overall 55 percent aggregates in Class VIII examinations shall have unrestricted choice to opt for either Science Group or Humanities.
According to the schedule of results 2021-22 (new academic session) issued by the FDE, the results of Class VIII exam should be declared on July 30 or 31, 2021.
The FDE directed the heads of educational institutions to ensure the provision of school leaving certificates to the desiring students (Pre-I-VII) with the status of promoted to next classes respectively.
"All Area Education Officers are advised by FDE to ensure implementation of these instructions in all Islamabad Model schools/colleges of their respective sectors in true letter and spirit," the notification said.
