Wahab says Zalmi repeated their mistakes
KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi’s skipper Wahab Riaz has said that they repeated mistakes in the final of the HBL PSL-6 against Multan Sultans in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
“We made the same mistakes which we had been making in the whole event,” Wahab said after his side was defeated by Multan by 47 runs in the final of the HBL PSL-6 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday night. “We could not learn from them. I think Multan played well and they deserved the trophy,” he added.
He congratulated Multan for the outstanding show in the decider. “I congratulate Multan who played better cricket than us. They outclassed us in every department. They played like champions and they deserved the win,” said Wahab, a left-arm pacer.
However, he said that overall his boys did well in the tournament. “I am very very proud of all of them for the way they showed their character,” Wahab said. “It was never easy to play five matches there and then come here and you have limited time to get gelled. The way my charges played I am very happy. Winning or losing is part of the game,” he said.
He especially praised Shoaib Malik and Sherfane Rutherford for their batting exploits. “Shoaib Malik and Rutherford played outstanding cricket. I think each and every one has been outstanding,” he said.
“Imran is a great talent. InshaAllah he will learn with time as he is too young. The way he has come here and performed he has done it above his age. He is a good prospect,” said Wahab.
“We were thinking of playing Amir Khan. Unfortunately he got injured. He will be with us InshaAllah. He is also one of the great prospects,” Wahab said.
He promised Zalmi’s fans that they would try to win the event for them next season. “Thank you for your support and love. We tried our best but unfortunately we could not finish it off the way we wanted to do. We will try to win this cup next year,” Wahab said.
