LAHORE:Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the direction of Director general Irfan Ali Niswana, has launched a special checking drive against soda water companies and stalls across the province following the increase in consumption of soda water and beverages in summer season.
During the drive on Wednesday, PFA teams checked 447 production units out of which production of 10 units was closed down while heavy fines were imposed on 139 businesses. Officials said warning notices were issued to 208 units while 3150 liters of soda water and beverages were destroyed at the spots.
As per details, 148 production units were checked in Lahore zone, 113 in Rawalpindi and 186 in South Punjab.
