CM opens succession certificate facility at Nadra Mega Centre
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated a one-widow operation system at the National Data Registration Authority (Nadra) Mega Center in DHA for issuing succession certificates/letters in cases of property inheritance within 15 days of the receipt of the application.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by provincial law adviser Murtaza Wahab, DG Nadra Brigadier (retd) Talat and other officers concerned.
The CM said the Supreme Court had evaluated that 30 per cent of judicial workload was because of succession-related issues, due to which other important matters were taking longer time in the courts. “Therefore, the Sindh government passed the succession law in the assembly on April 28 and within six weeks it was published in the gazette and now it is being implemented by launching its counters at the Nadra Centre,” he said.
Shah said Nadra was the custodian of the citizens’ data; therefore, the issuance of a succession certificate had been entrusted to them. “The issuance of the succession certificate and letter of the administration is taking three to six months and sometimes five years in certain cases; therefore, it has been assigned to Nadra,” he said.
“Nadra has started issuance of the succession certificate/letter of administration from today in Karachi and from June 25 the facility would be available all over Sindh,” he said and added that Sindh had efficiently adopted the concept and become the first province to implement the same as per his government’s vision of ensuring utmost public convenience.
Shah thanked Nadra for providing the service of the issuance of succession certificates. “Upon the death of any family member, legal heirs languish in courts for years before obtaining a letter of administration or succession certificate, as the case may be,” the CM said.
