Man killed, two injured for resisting mugging bids
A young man shot dead over offering resistance to a mugging bid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Thursday. Thirty-two-year-old Naushad Hussain, son of Ilyas Hussain, was shot dead in Block 4 within the jurisdiction of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. After getting information, police and rescuers reached the crime scene and transported the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead.
According to SHO Sub-Inspector Muhammad Afzal the victim was returning via an online bike service after withdrawing Rs195,000 from a branch of a private bank when two men riding a motorcycle intercepted him and demanded the cash at gunpoint. However, when Hussain resisted, one of the suspects opened fire at him. The suspected then bolted from the scene.
Police said the victim was shot once and died shortly after the incident. He hailed from Mirpurkhas and was a construction worker. Police said they were trying to trace and arrest the suspects with the help of CCTV footage. Separately, 52-year-old Abdul Ghaffar, son of Haji Zakir, was shot and wounded over offering resistance to a mugging attempt in Muhammad Khan Colony in Baldia Town.
Ittehad Town police said the injured person was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Saddam, son of Humayun, was shot and wounded in a firing incident near the Nishan-e-Haider Park within the jurisdiction of the Rizvia police station. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said the man was shot when he put up resistance on a mugging bid.
