TMUC holds National Moot Court Competition 2015

The Law Society of The Millennium University College (TMUC), H-11/4, organised a two-day inter-college Millennium National Moot Court Competition (MNMCC) 2015, says a press release.

It is an annual event that allows student advocates to hone their appellate advocacy skills before prominent members of the legal profession. 

Eight teams from leading institutions offering law degrees in Islamabad, including TMUC, The Institute of Legal Studies (TILS), The University College of Islamabad (UCI), Islamabad School of Law (ISL), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and The International Islamic University (IIU) registered for participation in the national moot court competition. 

The event started with the quarter finals on the first day wherein students presented their arguments on the missing persons' case before judges, including Barrister Sheheryar Muhammad Khan, Zainab Samantash, Sofia Ayaz and Hassan Mehmood.

The winning teams qualifying for the semifinals -- TMUC, UCI, TILS and IIU - the next day presented their arguments before a new panel of judges -- Faraz Raza, Sharafat Alui Chaudhry and Surriya Maryam Khalil.

In the final round, Minister of State for Human Rights Barrister Muhammad Zafarullah Khan; renowned politician and lawyer Ahmed Raza Kasuri, and High Court judge Jamila Aslam, after judging a thrilling competition among the students from TILS and UCI went into the finals and TILS team was declared the winners of MNMCC 2015.

The event came to a close with TMUC Dean of Academics Safia Farooqi awarding shields to the distinguished guests followed by awarding shields and certificates to the winning, runners-up teams and members of the TMUC Law Society. 

The National Moot Court Competition is an undertaking of TMUC Law Society to provide students an opportunity to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before members of the law fraternity.
