LAHORE : Commissioner Lahore Division has directed to identify and then launch crackdowns on illegal parking stands within the next seven days.
Commissioner Lahore passed these directions to all concerned officers in a meeting held here on Saturday. He also sought deadline from all stakeholders for removing all illegal parking stands from the provincial metropolis.
Commissioner Lahore said that a joint team of Lahore Parking Company, metropolitan government and police would take part in the crackdown. He said that no illegal parking stand was allowed to operate in the city and mint money from the citizens in shape of overcharging.
Commissioner Lahore expressed anger over the inactive issue of parking rotaries in the city. Commissioner Lahore said that government budget has been spent imposed on parking rotaries, which now were not functioning.
“Officers who are responsible for this will be suspended due to negligence,” he said adding all parking stands in the city were illegal except for notified parking stands. He said that no one can set up parking stands in any private or commercial place in the city without the permission of the government. Commissioner Lahore inquired as to how extortion could be allowed from illegal parking stands. The Commissioner Lahore was informed in the briefing that Lahore Parking Company was operating 215 parking stands and there were problems on some of them.
