PCMEA team meets PM’s adviser
LAHORE: A delegation of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) called on Adviser to the Prime Minister for Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood and briefed him in detail about the problems being faced by the manufacturers and exporters and their demands.
Group leader Abdul Latif Malik, PCMEA Senior Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmed, and Usman Ashraf demanded that all duties and taxes imposed on the import of raw materials from Afghanistan through the Torkham border should be completely abolished so that the difficulties could be relieved.
Dawood said that Pakistani handmade carpets have a unique identity across the world. “We need to further improve the quality of our products to strengthen our hold in the global markets and no compromise should be made on this.”
“The government is taking all possible steps to boost exports and that is why our exports are on the rise, despite the coronavirus pandemic,” he added.
The delegation said practical progress would be made in this regard and efforts would be made to meet the demands in the budget of the next financial year.
