8 shelters to be established in KP: minister

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Social Welfare Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan has said that 8 shelters would be set up in the province with the help of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.

He said arrangements were being made for the shelters’ early completion.

A meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shelter Welfare Board was held, with Dr Hisham Inamullah in the chair in Peshawar on Wednesday. Chairperson of the board Neelam Toru and Malik Riaz, Saleem Altaf and other officials were present.

The participants were informed that shelters in Peshawar, Mardan and Abbottabad have already been activated and people of Swat will also be able to benefit from the Swat shelter home from June 30, 2021.

The meeting also discussed the government-owned Social Welfare Department in adjacent to the Khyber Teaching Hospital, where Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal had proposed another model shelter earlier, decied to set up shelter somewhere else due to a court case regarding the inn.

In addition, the meeting was also informed that a piece of land in Kohat would be given to Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, where a shelter would be built with the cooperation of Turkish authorities.
