KARACHI: Zone II overpowered Zone V by 63 runs, while Zone VI overcame Zone I by 69 runs in the Division-I matches of the KMC-KCCA Inter Zonal Under-17 Cricket Tournament here on Monday.
Zone II scored 200 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs at the TMC Ground.
Zohaib Ali Khan made 62 with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Hashir Ansari (42 not out) was the other leading scorer. Zohaib Ali Khan and Hashir Ansari shared 105 for the seventh-wicket partnership. Badar Qureshi and Aarish Ali took three wickets each.
In reply, Zone V were bundled out for 137 in 42.3 overs.
Abdul Rashid scored 39 and Badar Qureshi made 28. Off-spinner Obaidullah claimed five wickets with his devastating bowling. Zohaib Ali Khan took two wickets. Obaidullah and Zohaib Ali Khan were named the joint men of the match.
At the RLCA Gulberg Ground, Zone VI posted 284 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Anas Ilyas was the leading batsman with 88 runs. Kamran Khan (48) and Muhammad Usman (38) were the other key contributors. Jalib Shaikh grabbed four wickets for 59 runs.
Zone I were all out on 215 in 43.4 overs.
Haider Ali batted well for his 75 with the help of eleven fours and one six. Abbas Barich made 41. Tariq picked up four wickets for 35 runs and Ali Khurram got three wickets for 9 runs. Anas Ilyas was declared man of the match.
