JI leaders meet religious scholars, MWM leaders to garner support for March 28 rally
As part of its efforts to make its ‘Haq Do Karachi Ko’ rally successful, a Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) delegation on Wednesday met leaders of various religious groups and seminaries, and invited them to attend the rally on March 28.
The JI delegation was headed by the party's Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman. It met Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Sindh leaders, including Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi, and invited them to attend the rally.
In the meeting held at the Wahdat House, the MWM’s provincial office, leaders of both the parties discussed the current political situation in the country, especially in Karachi. The JI city chief said there were a lot of problems in the city but the political parties ruling in the province and the Centre were not interested in resolving them. “We have come to you with the hope that you will be with us,” Naeem asked the MWM leaders.
Zaidi said the city looked helpless at the moment and none of the parties was taking responsibility of the city. “We stand with the JI on all issues and will attend the rally to resolve the issue the residents of the city are facing,” he said.
The JI delegation also separately met Darul Uloom Naeemia’s principal and prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman, Jamia Binori Town principal Abdul Razzaq Sikandar’s son Dr Muhamamd Saeed and Jamiat Sataria’s principal Hafiz Muhammad Salafi, and invited them to attend the JI’s rally for Karachi rights.
Announcing their support for the JI’s campaign for Karachi rights, the religious scholars warned that the existing policies of the federal and provincial governments for the country’s business capital would cause sufferings to the masses and could lead to a national disaster.
They also asked the residents to join the JI’s campaign for the rights of Karachi, saying thirty million people of Karachi could get their due rights only by a joint struggle. Mufti Muneeb said Karachi's infrastructure had been destroyed due to the miscalculation of the city's population and lack of resources. “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has won seats from Karachi but is not ready to give rights to the city,” he said.
Meanwhile, the JI Karachi chief asked the residents of Karachi to attend the rally for their rights as the rulers were not sincere to them. “The city roads are broken with overflowing gutters and heaps of trash are visible everywhere. There is no proper facility of public transport available to the people,” he said. “The Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan have destroyed Karachi while the PTI over the past 30 months did nothing for the city,” he added.
