HYDERABAD: UNDP Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme's (SGP) National Coordinator Masood Lohar on Friday received an impressive award by the UN Women Canada for recognising innovative technology, introduced by GEF SGP for climate change resilience in rural areas of Sindh.
The award ceremony was held at a local hotel in Hyderabad where UN Women Canada Head Almas Jiwani, who travelled to visit the innovative projects in Sindh and witness products' used in some areas and appreciated the technology.
She gave the award to Lohar for introducing such products in marginalised communities. She acknowledged that this work, specifically benefitted community womenfolk, who otherwise are prone to disasters and facilities hardships.
The program under the banner of 'SGP as Climate Change Solution Maker' organized by GEF SGP Partners Network attracted environmentalists, community activists, academia and media persons.
Some GEF partners have displayed variety of handicrafts, which depicted indigenous culture and knowledge to recognise the skilled women of the province. Some organizations also displayed their products at the event.
