The Sindh High Court ordered the constitution of a medical board to determine the age of a Hindu girl who converted to Islam and married a Muslim man in Nawabshah.
The order came at a hearing of a petition of Shabana, who sought the quashment of a kidnapping case against her spouse Ali Gul.
She said she converted to Islam of her own will on October 5 and married Ali Gul, but her family members became annoyed and registered a case against her spouse. She sought the quashment of the case and protection against harassment.
The court observed that the petitioner seemed to be a minor, and ordered that she be shifted to a shelter home. It directed the incharge of the shelter home to take the girl to medical superintendent of Civil Hospital, who would constitute a medical board to determine her age.
The court also directed the senior superintendent of police of the district to provide security to the petitioner when she appeared before the medical board.

Inquiry ordered
The high court directed the Sindh police chief to conduct an inquiry into an encroachment on a property of the evacuee property trust in Scheme 33, Sikandar Goth, Malir.
The direction came on a petition of Rana Faizul Hasan, who complained about the encroachment on the government property worth millions of rupees.
The petitioner submitted that land grabbers were encroaching five acres of government land and selling it by raising an illegal construction on it. He said the land was the evacuee property trust’s property and police were conniving with the land grabbers in raising the illegal construction.
The counsel for the trust also verified the claim of the petitioner, saying that despite the registration of FIRs police were conniving with the land grabbers and construction was being raised on survey 361 and 362, Deh Gujro, Scheme 33, on the Super Highway.
A division bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan directed the inspector general of police to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within a month. It observed that the inquiry should be carried out by the IGP or DIG Sultan Khawaja.

Detention cases
The high court directed the federal and provincial law officers to file comments on the alleged detention of citizens by personnel of law enforcement agencies.
Citizens submitted in their petitions that Adnan, Mohammad Shamim, Mohsin, Chaudhry Amir Rasool, Dilawar Khan and Asif were picked up by law enforcers from different agencies in Iqbal Market, Nabi Bux, Surjani Town and North Karachi and their whereabouts were unknown.
They sought the release of the detainees if not required in any cases.
