Tribal journalists protest ‘harassment’

LANDIKOTAL: The members of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) Khyber Agency chapter on Friday staged a rally to protest the alleged harassment of media persons.
TUJ Khyber Agency president Mehboob Shah Afridi led the rally that marched from the Landikotal Press Club. A number of journalists from Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara, members of the civil society and political leaders participated in the rally.
The protesters holding placards and banners chanted slogans asking the political administration to protect the journalists. Speaking of the occasion, Mehboob Shah Afridi said the raids by the officials of that Khyber Rifles and political administration on the homes of local residents and journalists were not acceptable. He said that several local journalists were harassed during the last few months instead of providing protection to them.
