PESHAWAR: Tribal elders from different agencies have announced to convene an all parties Conference over the proposed merger of federally administered tribal areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a news
conference, vice-president of the hitherto unknown Muttahida Qabail Party,
Malik Habib Noor Orakzai, rejected the proposal as impracticable. He said that the proposal should be discussed in the all parties conference and a decision should be taken there.
He said that his party would not support
merger of tribal areas into the province.
He added that a delegation of the party would
soon meet the Fata parliamentarians to discuss the matter with them.
He said that before taking any decision about the future status of Fata and honourable rehabilitation of the displaced tribal people should be ensured.
The elder also demanded proper compensation for the affected tribal people of the prolonged wave of militancy and military operation in the tribal areas.
