KASUR: Four dacoits were killed in two encounters with the police here on Wednesday.
In the first incident, four dacoits snatched a motorcycle from Muhammad Waqas near Kasur Grid Station on Ferozpur Road. In the meantime, Mustafabad police chased the dacoits and intercepted them near Ramthaman village. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire at the police party, which was retaliated. Later, two dacoits fled while leaving the dead bodies of their two accomplices who were identified as Arshad alias Acchee and Shabbir alias Kaka of Dafto village. The dacoits were involved in several cases of heinous crimes including robberies. However, the police claimed that the dacoits were killed by the firing of their own accomplices. In another encounter, Sadar Chunian police were taking two alleged dacoits, Asif alias Asee and Babar alias Babri, for recovery of looted items when four gangsters allegedly attacked and opened fire at the police party to get release the arrested dacoits near Shahzad Greet Town. The police also retaliated. Later, the attackers fled but Asif and Babar were killed during the encounter. However, the police claimed that the dacoits were killed by the firing of the attackers.
