A butcher, who lives in New Karachi, has been diagnosed with both Congo and dengue fevers and admitted to the isolation ward of the Civil Hospital, health authorities said on Tuesday.
Provincial health minister Jam Mehtab Dahar said Saddar Khan has been diagnosed with Congo-Crimean Haemorrhagic Fever and Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, but was now in a stable condition.
In an official handout, the health minister said a campaign against dengue virus was under way in Karachi and in the next phase, it would be launched in Badin, Sanghar, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan and Shaheed Benazirabad districts.
The health minister said excluding Khan, 346 people were diagnosed with dengue fever in the city in the last 15 days.
This year, 1,732 dengue fever patients were admitted to hospitals in Karachi, of which 1,687 were residents of the city and the other 45 were brought from other parts of the province.
The health minister also took notice of the shortage of female doctors in the government-run hospitals of the Badin district and directed the special secretary health to look into the matter.
