MANSEHRA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah has challenged rejection of his bail plea by a local court in Peshawar High Court (PHC)’s Abbottabad circuit bench.
“We have challenged Kifayatullah’s bail plea rejection by a local court in Abbottabad circle bench, which issued notices to district police officer and deputy commissioner to appear before court on April 21,” Bilal Khan Advocate told reporters on Saturday. Judicial Magistrate, Mansehra, Kamal Fareed Tanoli turned down bail application of Mufti Kifayatullah.
Bilal Khan, the counsel of Mufti Kifayatullah, said that all section of laws, which were incorporated by police in three FIRs against his client, were challenged in PHC Abbottabad circuit bench.
He said his client wanted the government to allow respectable burial for those who had died of Covid-19.
He added that Mufti Kifayatullah was arrested under section 16 of Maintenance of Public Order, but he had not challenged the writ of the government.
The police arrested Mufti Kifayatullah for allegedly instigating people against the state in his speech on April 15 at the funeral prayer of his party leader Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz. Meanwhile, JUI-F leader Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was victimising its rivals under the garb of Covid-19 emergency.
“Mufti Kifayatullah was arrested to punish him for criticising the rulers for their wrong policies,” he told a news conference.
