YDA leader tests positive for Covid-19
MARDAN: The Mardan district chapter president of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Dr Ziaur Rehman has tested positive for the Covid-19, sources said Tuesday.
The sources said Dr Ziaur Rehman was performing duty at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Mardan when he started suffering from fever. Later, he underwent coronavirus test which came out to be positive. The doctor was shifted to an isolation ward in the same hospital. It was learnt that his colleagues at the DHQ Hospital had undergone coronavirus test as well but the results were pending. It may be noted that on March 25 Dr Ziaur Rehman in a video message uploaded on social media had appealed for logistic support and personal protection equipment to fight the disease as these were in short supply.
He had said that the viral disease would be difficult to control if the outbreak continued at such a speed in Mardan district. Dr Ziaur Rehman had argued that doctors, paramedics and other healthcare staff cannot fight this battle alone. “We need beds, ventilators and protective kits in large numbers to cope with the situation,” he had pleaded.
