1,119 violators of section 144 released
Rawalpindi : The 1st class magistrates in Rawalpindi have released all 1,119 people arrested over violation of lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.
Punjab Home Department (PHD) has given all powers to concerned station house officers (SHOs) to release lockdown violators in this regard. The City Police Officer (CPO) Spokesman Muhammad Sajjad told ‘The News’ that concerned police stations have registered total 540 cases against lockdown violators and arrested 1,119 people. Police have registered cases according to Section 188. “All arrested people have been released by courts and several have been released by the concerned SHOs,” he said.
He said that we are relaxing people to purchase necessary kitchen items on regular basis. Similarly, the local management has also sealed three localities after coronavirus cases surfaced.
The localities of Dhok Paracha, Dhok Kashmirian and Magistrate Colony were sealed after several people of a family tested positive for coronavirus. The local management also visits Chungi No22, Airport, Sadiqabad and Adra on daily basis and directs police to keep an eye in these localities.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rawalpindi Captain (r) Anwar-ul-Haq said that they are visiting all localities on priority basis to save the lives of people. “We have sealed some of localities after several people of a family tested positive for coronavirus,” he said.
He appealed citizens to stay at home to avoid spread of coronavirus. All grocery and general store shops close down at 5pm rather 8pm.
