Pakistan has an adequate supply of chloroquine tablets but its Vitamin C supply is lacking because of DRAP's delay in formulating a vitamin registration and pricing policy. Vitamin C has proven to help a patient's immune system fight off the flu virus. Daily dose of 1500mg administered as chewable/drinkable tablets or IV injections has also proven to shorten the hospital stay of Covid-19 patients.
The government should immediately issue a production licence to local companies with zero charges. Raw material should be imported in bulk from China through a G2G contract and given to local pharmas at import rate plus tax. And a daily dose of 1500mg should be given to all Covid-19 patients to reduce their hospital stay and load.
