Two cops punished for violating rules

HARIPUR: An inspector was demoted while a sub-inspector was suspended and a muharir was dismissed from the job after the departmental inquiry found them guilty of violating discipline, official sources said on Thursday.

According to police sources, Inspector Sajid Farooq, former SHO Police Station Sera e Saleh, was suspended and closed to the police lines after a number of complaints of violating police rules.

The inquiry team headed by SP Investigation Asif Gohar, found Inspector Sajid Farooq guilty of negligence and violating E&D rules and recommended his demotion to the rank of Sub Inspector. Following recommendations of the inquiry committee, the officer was demoted to the rank of sub-inspector.

Police sources told that Sub Inspector Tanvir Khan who was posted as SHO Nara Amazai was also suspended by the DPO Haripur when a video clip of one of his friends became viral on Tik-Tok. The civilian, according to the video clip, was occupying the official chair of SHO and recording a statement.

The SHO was also accused of altering the weapons recovered during a search operation in village Nara Amazai and a local tribal jirga also lodged a complaint against the Sub Inspector and demanded legal action against him. On the recommendations of the inquiry committee, the DPO Haripur suspended the SHO Nara Amazai and dismissed Muharrar Muhammad Niaz in the same case.
