Govt employees protesting for salaries arrested in Dir
DIR: The police on Tuesday arrested dozens of newly appointed Class-IV employees of the District Headquarters Hospital Dir who were protesting against the district account officer (DAO) Upper Dir for not releasing their salaries. The protesters gathered at the account office and staged the protest. They were chanting slogans against the officer for not releasing their salaries even after two months. It is to be mentioned that Section-144 has been imposed on all kinds of gatherings in Upper Dir owing to coronavirus situation. The protesters alleged that the DAO was not releasing their salaries even after two months allegedly on the directives of a prominent political leader. Later, station house officer, police station, Dir, Humayun Khan, came to the site along with two police mobile vehicles and arrested the protesters. When contacted SHO said the police had been called by the DAO. However, he added, any kind of gathering had been banned in the district and the protesters had violated the Section-144.
