LAHORE
A 27-year-old youth was shot dead by the police in an alleged encounter staged in the Misri Shah area on Wednesday morning.
As per police, three robbers snatched a motorbike from one Chaudhry Taseer and rode away from the scene.
Meanwhile, a police team spotted the three robbers and signalled them to stop but they opened fire at the policemen.
The police retaliated in the same fashion, as a result of which, one robber died on the spot while his two accomplices escaped the scene. Police shifted the body to morgue.
Accidents: Total 593 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which four lives were lost during these traffic accidents in different districts of Punjab and 496 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 223 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
