Woman on the run after throwing chemical on husband: police
A woman is believed to have gone into hiding after allegedly throwing an acid-like chemical on his sleeping husband on Sunday.
A minor child of the couple also sustained burn injuries as some chemical drops fell on him too as the kid was sleeping next to his father in an informal settlement in Banghoria Goth. According to the Azizabad police, the father and the son were moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. The police said the father sustained severe burn injuries.
A preliminary investigation suggested that Farzana, a mother of six, wanted to end her relationship with her husband Farhan who refused a divorce, the police said, adding that the couple had tied the knot around eight years and reportedly it was a freewill marriage.
According to Azizabad SHO Haji Sanaullah, a police team visited the crime scene and it was suspected that the woman had gone into hiding after committing the crime. The officer said the woman had been asking for the divorce for the last six months and the couple was reported to have fights at home. Despite domestic disputes, he said, the man was not ready for the divorce. A hunt had been launched to apprehend the woman and a case had been registered against her, he added.
