TOKYO: Japan has a huge market for Pakistani mangoes. Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) Chief Executive Lt Gen (retd) Shafqaat Ahmed told The News.
“The FFCL has exported 200 tons of mangoes to Japan, but we are still receiving huge orders for Pakistani mangoes,” he said, adding that due to shortage of capacity and time they were unable to fulfil the requirement. However, he expressed the hope that the FFC would be able to fulfil the demand in Japan next year. “Not only mangoes, but the FFC is also working to bring frozen fruits and vegetables to the Japanese market.”
The retired Lt Gen appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Ambassador Farukh Amil and the commercial section of Pakistan embassy in introducing Pakistani agricultural products in Japan.
He said the Pakistan Embassy in Tokyo organised an event for promoting mangoes, which was well attended by Japanese buyers and suppliers.
