PAC body told six scholars sent abroad didn’t return
ISLAMABAD: The PAC Subcommittee was informed on Monday that 20 scholars were sent for further studies on foreign scholarship with having an NTS test and out of 20 scholars 6 didn’t were not returned after the completion of the scholarship.
The meeting of the Subcommittee was held with the chair of its Convener Senator Sherry Rehman in which the audit paras relating to Higher Education Commission (HEC) were examined. The Subcommittee was also informed that process of taking against 6 scholars who did not return on the completion of their studies has been started.
It was informed to the committee that students of the Federal Urdu University were sent on scholarship for foreign studies without conducting the test and even the clean chit was given to Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University Dr Zafar, who was accused of financial irregularities.
The Convener of the PAC Subcommittee, Senator Sherry Rehman, during the meeting questioned NAB whether than handcuffing was only for the politicians while the rewards for officials. “ON whom directives the clean chit was given,” she questioned.
The officials replied that no clean chit was given to anyone but the accused get a bail from the court of law. Convener of the Subcommittee of the PAC Senator Sherry Rehman also directed the HEC for the issuance of the degrees to the students of the COMSATS in next 15-days. “What was the fault of the students that their degrees were not issued by the HEC,” she questioned.
