Draft of new amendments to CCP prepared, PHC told
PESHAWAR: The government has prepared a draft of new amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure (CCP) 1908 and the provincial anti-narcotics law, a bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) was told on Tuesday.
The Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court Waqar Ahmad Seth during a hearing in a case regarding extension of age limit for retirement to 63 observed that written statement should be submitted in the court if lawyers were not appearing before the court due to strike. The chief justice asked the additional advocate general about the status of the strike of lawyers and the draft of new amendments. The Additional Advocate General Qaisar Ali Shahn told the court that the new draft is ready and will be presented in the KP Assembly on January 27. The court adjourned the case till January 28.
Lawyers have been on strike against the recent amendments to laws and have demanded of the government to bring further amendments through assembly. The lawyers were told that the new draft will be presented in the assembly on January 27. However, lawyers decided to continue their strike till the new bill is presented in the assembly.
