MANSEHRA: An outlaw wanted in connection with over three dozen cases of murders and attempted murders surrendered to the police here on Tuesday.
“The outlaw, wanted in 38 cases of heinous nature surrendered to the police as his several accomplices were killed in police encounters at mountainous Danna area of Tanawal earlier this year,” Najeebur Rehman, District Police Officer (DPO) of Mansehra, told a press conference at the City Police Station.
The outlaw identified as Sabir alias Sabira was produced before media.
Najeebur Rehman said that a gang of hardened criminals being led by Shehzada, Imtiaz and Sabir was involved in many murders and kidnapping for ransom in Tanawal.
“Shehzada and Imtiaz were killed in encounters with the police and Sabir was still involved in crimes. However, he surrendered to the police,” he added.
“The Danna area, which is situated at hilltop, had become the den of criminals as notorious outlaws from other parts of country used to take refuge there,” he said.
The DPO said criminals used mountainous Danna as a safe heaven owing to its geographical situation.
“Over 80 outlaws from Sardara and Kanda groups have surrendered to the police,” he said.
He said that both the ringleaders, who killed in police encounter, were wanted in dozen of cases of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for ransom.
