LHC summons CS, IGP on plea against names on top 10 gangsters list
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Punjab chief secretary (CS) and the inspector general of police to appear before the court in person on January 13 on the petitions moved by different people challenging inclusion of their names on the list of top-10 gangsters prepared by police.
The court issued the orders after an official told the court that the Police Department had not released the list or issued it to the media.
Khwaja Aqeel Ahmad alias Gogi Butt, Mansha Bomb, Ameer Balaj, son of the late Tipu Truckawalan, and others had filed the petitions. The petitioners claimed that they were not involved in any illegal activity or facing any legal proceedings.
In his petition, Mansha said he was a worker of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and a law-abiding citizen. He said he was never been involved in any illegal act. Balaj in his petition had said there were two cases against him and he was on bail.
The petitioners argued that the police included their names on the list of top-10 goons with mala fide intention. They requested the court to order police to remove their names from the list and also restrain police from causing any harassment to them.
