Two girls shot dead for ‘honour’

BAHAWALPUR: Two girls were shot dead by their parents for ‘honour’ in as many incidents at Tehsil Sadiqabad on Sunday.

Accused Ahmad along his brother allegedly shot dead his 17-year-daughter Arooj for honour at Basti Khair Muhammad Jhek.19-year-old Tehmina was allegedly shot dead by her father at Kotla Jaffar.

According to the police, the killers of Arooj had been arrested while the killer of Tehmina was at large.

JUI-F workers rally against govt: The JUI-F activists staged a demonstration and took out a rally in connection with the Azadi March plan-C at Bahawalnagar on Sunday.

The protesters were led by JUI-F Bahawalnagar district general secretary Abdul Khaliq Mehr. The activists gathered at the Government College of Commerce Chowk and chanted slogans against the government policies.

LHW ATTEMPTS SUICIDE: A lady health worker, posted at Basic Health Unit Basti Rana Iqbal, attempted suicide on Sunday.

Rani Manzoor was rushed to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Reportedly, the woman was mentally disturbed due to alleged sexual harassment by BHU incharge dr Ali Faheem.

District Health Authority CEO Dr Yasin said that a report regarding the charges had been sent to DC Shozab Saeed for further inquiry of the incident.

BODY FOUND: The body of a four-year-old child was found near Sma-Satta on Sunday.

According to the police, the dead body had been shifted to the RHC Sma-Satta.
