All the countries engaging in talks can protect their common interests with the help of effective diplomacy.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said this on Thursday as he met a delegation of the defence attaches and diplomatic staff from 16 countries at the Governor House.

The delegation included diplomats from the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand and Egypt.

Ismail said diplomacy is also important for promotion of investments, joint ventures and bilateral trade. He added Pakistan wanted to increase economic cooperation with other countries, including those in the region. There was a huge potential for economic cooperation and bilateral trade between countries and investment could be significantly increased by the exchange of diplomatic delegations, he remarked.

The governor said every sector of the Pakistani economy was progressing under the present government. Due to its geographical importance, Pakistan's role has been very important for peace not only in South Asia but also the whole world, he added.

Ismail said a new era of development and prosperity had begun in Pakistan where many countries, including the neighbouring ones, were interested in investing in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Later, the delegation visited various rooms of the Governor House and witnessed some personal items of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which have been preserved there.
