MUZAFFARGARH: Sanawan police have booked three people on the charge of kidnapping and assaulting a boy and rrested one of the accused.
Nauman Ijaz (14), son of Ghulam Shabbir Arain of Daya Chokha village, was allegedly kidnapped by Muhammad Afzal, Yaqoob and Ghulam Rasool when he was coming out of his school on the Independence Day (August 14). The accused took the boy to Chaubara Town, Layyah district, where they sexually assaulted him. Nauman managed to escape from the kidnappers’ custody after two days and contacted his parents from Chaubara. Ghazanfar Abbas, Nauman’s elder brother, reached Chaubara and brought him back home.
When Nauma’s family contacted Sanawan police, they neither listened to their complaint nor issued a docket for medical examination. Consequently, they moved to a court and a local magistrate ordered medical officer of Sanawan Rural Health Centre to issue a medical certificate after examination. Despite having medico-legal certificate, the police did not entertain their complaint. Then, Nauman’s family and their relatives staged a demonstration in front of Kot Addu Press Club. Smelling severity of the incident, the police immediately registered a case (206/15) under sections 367-A, 377, and 511 of the PPC and arrested one of the accused, Yaqoob.
DPO Awais Ahmed Malik said the police had registered a case in the light of medico-legal certificate. Raids are being conducted to arrest other accused, he added.
