MURREE: Over hundred tourists were left hanging in midair for over three hours in the cable on Wednesday when Patriatta chairlift cable car following some technical fault stopped in the midway.
The chairlift administration said that during the loadshedding hours the generators went out of order, which took some time on the maintenance. According to tourists the cable car remained stuck in the air from 3:30 pm to 6:45pm.
The local administration officials also reached the spot and rescued safely the stranded tourists after restoration of cable car however the tourists on midpoint and top point were perturbed due to the incident.
It is relevant to mention here that this is not the first incident of its nature but in the past number of such incidents were witnessed but it is astonishing that there are never sufficient arrangements to meet such like emergency situation as this is the mega tourist project where thousands of tourists visit daily.
It is learnt that there are three phases to meet the emergency situation called plan A, B and C to rescue the tourists but on Wednesday all the plans proved to be failed resulting harassment and insecurity among the tourists which is a question mark for the Tourism Ministry in Punjab.
Geo News adds: The PM expressed annoyance over the fault and admonished the concerned authorities, seeking a report on the incident. He questioned why there was no alternate arrangement and if there was an alternate generator then why it was not functioning.
