MPA says oil, gas companies failed to execute uplift projects
KARAK: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel on Monday said the oil and gas companies working in Karak had failed to initiate development projects in the district.
He also complained about the emission of poisonous chemicals from the companies. This he said during a meeting with Regional Coordinator of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Mushfiq Hameed Paracha held in Nashpa Dehydration Plant. The district president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Maulana Farooq and other party office-bearers were also present.
Mian Nisar Gul believed the companies had denied provision of employments to the local people. He added that the solid waste chemical materials that emitted from the installations of the companies spread different kinds of diseases. The lawmaker said that the companies failed to initiate mega projects in the district under its social sector programme to resolve the basic problems of the people.
The meeting decided that a committee would be formed to address the complaints of the people. A one-month deadline was fixed for the companies to take practical steps for the resolution of the problems of the people or else they would devise a strategy at Kohat division level to stop the transportation of oil and gas from the three districts of Kohat division.
