KARACHI: Pakistan Boxing Federation’s (PBF) joint secretary Mohammad Yousuf Butt was killed in Lahore on Saturday.
A PBF source told ‘The News’ that a person went upstairs into his room at his residence and opened fire at him. He received multiple injuries on his neck and chest.
He was also the president of Punjab Boxing Association (PBA) and associate secretary of Punjab Olympic Association. The PBF condemned the death of Yousuf who served boxing for around 45 years.
“It’s shocking for sports especially for boxing. We appeal to the Punjab government to arrest those behind Yousuf’s murder,” the PBF said in a condolence message.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) also condoled his death.
“The POA’s chief Lt Gen (retd) Arif Hasan and the entire Olympic family of Pakistan is deeply grieved on the sad demise of Yousuf. May Allah keep his soul in eternal peace and give courage to his family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude,” the POA said.
“He will always be remembered for his contribution to sports in Punjab and Pakistan,” the POA said.
