PESHAWAR: The Gomal University Academic Staff Association (GUASA) has claimed that the appointments made during 2008 and 2014 were according to the prevalent rules and regulations of the university.
Through a press release on Tuesday, GUASA President Muhammad Shoaib Gangohi said the appointments were made on merit. “Conspiracies are being hatched against the Gomal University on a wide scale from unknown quarters to get this years old varsity closed,” he claimed. He said the administration and the elected body of the teachers were united against all such conspiracies.
Earlier, the Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, issued a letter wherein the chancellor had approved 10 points for implementation and the most contentious amongst them were declaring the selection boards of the year 2008 and 2014 null and void.
Muhammad Shoaib Gangohi said the letter was based on the recommendations of the inquiry committee formed by the chief secretary. However, he said, the chief secretary was not authorised to constitute any such committee to probe into the affairs of the university. He said the Governor’s Inspection Team had cleared the entire process.
He said nine judgments of the Peshawar High Court, Dera Ismail Khan Bench were also available on record in favour of the selection boards. He added that the Peshawar High Court, Dera Ismail Khan Bench had allowed the university authorities to recruit teachers in different departments except Horticulture and Agronomy.
