An important meeting to review security arrangements at Punjab University was held at varsity’s New Campus here Monday.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran chaired the meeting attended by all deans, principals, directors, chairpersons and heads of various departments.
He said the Punjab government was taking serious measures to ensure security on campuses. He urged the teachers to play their role to promote real image of Islam and counter the challenge of extremism. He asked them not to invite disputed personalities and those having links with extremist organisations to seminars and other activities on the campus.
PU VC instructed the heads to keep CCTV cameras functional round-the-clock and inform university administration and the Punjab government’s helpline 0800-11111 immediately after seeing any suspected activity.
Meanwhile, the PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has expressed grief over the sad demise of acclaimed novelist Abdullah Hussain. In his condolence message, Dr Mujahid Kamran said Abdullah Hussain was a writer of international level and his novels had been translated into various foreign languages. He said Mr Hussain’s services in the field of literature and his literary creations would be remembered by international community forever. He prayed that departed soul may rest in eternal peace and Almighty Allah may grant courage to the members of bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
