The provincial police chief ordered the counter-terrorism department on Sunday to launch an operation against drug and gambling dens as well as land grabbers and extortionists as the money generated through these activities was used to finance terrorism.
During a meeting with senior police officials, Ghulam Hyder Jamali instructed that honest and competent police officers should be posted on important positions in Karachi to eliminate terrorism and other heinous crimes.
Additional IGP CTD Dr Sanaullah Abbasi informed the participants of the meeting that his department was an anti-terrorism force whose mandate would include raids and arresting terrorists. It was pointed out that the CTD financial crime and intelligence cells were being equipped with more weapons and manpower.
