TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged dacoit and a police constable were injured during an encounter near Chak 370/JB on Tuesday.
The Gojra police tried to stop two alleged dacoits but they tried to flee and opened fire at the police party, which was retaliated on Gojra-Khidder Wala Road. As a result, constable Rizwan Shaukat was injured while dacoit Akash Masih of Sardar Colony, Gojra, also sustained injuries. The police also arrested second dacoit who was later identified as Usama Akhtar of Gojra.
Workers stage demonstration,: Scores of workers of Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) Tuesday staged a protest demonstration for rise in their wages outside Kamalia Press Club.
Protesters belonged to power loom workers association, carpet weaving worker union and Awami Bhatta workers union.
Addressing the protesters, LQM tehsil chairman Baba Latif Insari said officials of Labour welfare department were cooperating with owners instead of workers.
He called for implementation on the agreement reached between owners of powerlooms, carpet factory owners and their workers six month ago regarding rise in the wages.
He said LWD officials were not forcing the owners to implement the agreement.
RS320M UPLIFT PROJECTS: MPA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad Saeedi Tuesday claimed Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had approved Rs 320 million uplift projects for his constituency.
