LAHORE: JI secretary-general Liaqat Baloch has said the country is facing political, economic and security crises but the political leaders are committing blunders and advancing the enemy’s anti-state agenda to destabilise the country.
Addressing the JI’s political advisory council meeting to review the prevailing political tensions on Thursday, Baloch said elimination of terrorism and restoration of peace in Karachi was the collective decision of all parties.
Terrorists, corrupt elements, plunderers and mafias must be wiped out in line with the National Action Plan and the national consensus and political governments should not make it a matter of prestige, he said.
Liaqat Baloch said if security institutions were crossing their limits and the federal or provincial governments and political parties had complaints against them, these issues should also be reviewed in the broader national spirit and national security should not be placed at a risk through mudslinging, provocations or party politics.
Liaqat Baloch demanded the federal government take necessary steps for repatriation of a Pakistani driver presently in the custody of Indian Customs officials. He said an Indian citizen was killed in a road accident and the heirs of the deceased had pardoned driver Ali Muhammad on receipt of Rs 1 million in an Indian court.
