MANSEHRA: Traders on Monday observed a shutdown against the prolonged power outages and lack of sanitation in the city.
The traders at main Badra and link roads observed shutdown to protest against Pesco and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) as they said that both departments failed to address issues faced by traders in the city and its suburbs. Fayyaz Solehria, a trader leader, told reporters that the business community was fed up with the prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding that affected business activities. “The heavy transmission lines installed decades ago are posing a serious threat to lives of traders but the Pesco authorities are not changing them,” he said.
The trader added the TMA should dispose of the garbage, which could cause the spread of diseases in the city. He said heavy fines were also being imposed on traders. The traders ended the strike after Assistant Commissioner Mughees Sanaullah along with police held talks with the business community and assured them that their problems would be addressed.
