LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the draft of the new local government system in Punjab.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said the new local government (LG) system in the province would meet the expectations of the people and power would be transferred to the lower level in its true sense.
Sardar Usman Buzdar said the LG representatives would be empowered with responsibility. He said this new system would play an important role in resolving the issues of public at their doorstep.
He said there would be proper checks and balances in the institutions. He said the LG system would be the system of public and they would feel empowered. The institutions of local government will be independent financially, the CM said.
The local government secretary briefed the meeting on important features of the new local government system. Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat and chief secretary were also present.
