The FBR recently extended the last date for filing income tax returns up to March 31 for those taxpayers who had failed to discharge their liabilities at the precious last dates, ie, December 15, 2018 for individuals and December 31, 2018 for companies.
Sources in the FBR said through opening the tax offices on weekly holidays the revenue authority wanted to collect maximum revenue.
The FBR directed chief commissioners to establish liaison with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and authorised branches of the National Bank of Pakistan to ensure transfer of tax collection by these branches to the respective branches of the SBP on the same date so as to account for the same towards the collection for the month of March 2019.
